The Antique theatre is one of the most notable and by far the most historically significant landmarks in Plovdiv- it is a representation not only of Bulgaria’s past but of its rich culture and is certainly one of the most tourist visited sites in Bulgaria. That is part of the reason why Minister of Culture Stefan Danailov promised to provide the regional governor Todor Petkov with 62 000 leva for the reconstruction of the theater stage and 28 000 leva for foam pillows for the seats. He also committed to raising funds in order to strengthen the supporting wall on the back of the stage. In return, the ever active regional governor said that he would turn to the business segment for an additional 100 000 leva which would go toward the opening of a second entrance to the theater.
